Dude in a “ Chally” passes a parked police cruiser at 271 kmph and gets a flat. Still manages to stop safely, just in time to be caught by the police.

I have a friend that used to be a Squid on their super sport doing things like doing 150+ on the highway. Once they did it and blew past a cop then ran out of gas so the cop caught up with them in a mile or so...
I had another friend that also liked to speed and run from cops in his F150 lightning. He could outrun cops but not a radio - they caught on to him and there was a police helicopter in the area so they tasked it on him and caught him. He ended up spending a week in jail and lost his license for 6 months.
After typing this all out I realize that when I was in my 20's some of my friends were supremely shitty people...
That lightning was a sweet ride though

It’s like winter tires are not designed to go that fast.

Something down with OPP something something.
Surprised this wasn’t some shithead devilspawn of residency-purchasing dirty money in Vancouver, but they prefer Euro cars I guess.

I have an even better dumb squid story... I was riding with a buddy, I was on my CBR1000RR, he was on a Ninja 500. Highway was wide open so I decided to show off a bit - I get alongside and just drop the hammer on the 1000 and walk away from him. I held it for a few seconds, probably hit between 130 and 150, and then rolled off the throttle to slow down and let him catch back up.
Well, where I passed him there was an o n-ramp comes up to meet the highway from a road below it . A cop just happened to be coming up the on-ramp when I squirted past and he mashed it in the cruiser and rode right up my ass. So when I rolled off the throttle and looked in my mirror for my friend, imagine my surprise to instead see one of Connecticut’s finest, pointing towards the side of the road.
Best part was, my friend pulled over next to me, so they ticketed him too !

A the blissful idiocy of youth...
I never did that on a bike, ran and hid from the cops once or twice in a car back when I was young and stupid though.

I liked to go fast but I wasn’t the guy doing 160 weaving in and out of rush hour traffic, lane splitting, etc. So half idiocy?
Did run and hide from the cops a few times, but also got caught dead to rights a couple times (such as the above story).

so they ticketed him too
Based on what? I’d fight that ticket in an instant.

He only had a learners permit, and in CT you can’t ride on an interstate highway with a permit, you’re only allowed to ride on state roads and surface streets.

Ah, gotcha. I thought the cop was writing him a speeding ticket too.
Yea, I think your friend out-dumbed you on this one lol

I was a passenger in a Miata that once decided, speed was a better option. Got away, surprisingly enough.

That is surprising surprising. Only time I’ve ever had it work is to duck into a subdivision and take a couple random and quick turns and park in someone’s driveway.
Definitely not a recommended plan though. It's a miracle I didn't get caught and lose my license.

We were definitely lucky. I think it helped that the highway was ending as it was coming into a town. I think the cop must have been going the other way or parked when we passed them.
We got through the gate at the military base we were going back to, pulled off into the closest barracks lot, locked the car, and walked away.

Sammy lives 10min from me (Summit Drive in Mill Valley, Bob Weir is just down from him too) , I delivered UPS in the winter around here in college and I would see him. He gave me a signed blown glass bottle of his Cabo Wabo. I still have it sealed, he signed it in gold paint pen. He has some cool cars but he also has an old bug to go undercover if he wants to.

Ah - military base definitely helps too.

I thought he was in southern CA, not near San Fran? Is that Summit Dr or Summit Ave? Looked it up on Google Earth; couldn’t find a Drive.

I guess it could be Ave. It’s a long road that goes way up the hill. I just know where to go, I don’t read the sign! He might have a house down south but he was always here in Marin, he owns a restaurant in Mill Valley too.

I was working the gate one night when a cop came through trying to pull someone over. We told him he needed to present ID. He was none to pleased as the person went on their way.
To be fair, in Hawaii, anything passes for a cop car. They put a blue light on the roof and call it good. He was sitting across from the gate, three- way intersection, with all of his lights off. Some one didn’t use a blinker or rolled through a light turning into the gate. It was a bs stop.

Not sure I’d call a Challenger a “sports car” but whatever.
I’m for a very unAmerican idea that folks need to get additional licensure for cars with that much horsepower/speed...
